Future Makers: Building Creativity & Entrepreneurship in Spyder Lab
This year, Parks Junior High students have the amazing opportunity to bring their creativity to life in the Spyder Lab — a hands-on design and production space that blends art, technology, and entrepreneurship. Using industry-standard equipment — including a Roland SG3-540 large format printer, Roland vinyl cutter, sublimation printers, Epson EcoTank, and heat presses for hats, mugs, and apparel — students create real products that integrate art, technology, and business. With your support, our students will not only learn the technical skills of digital design and production but also practice business roles such as quality control, marketing, and customer service.
Imagine a student sketching a design in class, transferring it onto a shirt using vinyl and a heat press, and then proudly presenting it at a school event or fundraiser. These experiences build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while giving students a chance to see their ideas transformed into products with real value. To keep the lab functioning at its best during the 2025–2026 academic year, we need supplies such as vinyl, sublimation paper, inks, blanks (shirts, hats, mugs), packaging supplies, and general classroom items like clipboards, notebooks, and storage. Many of these materials are not purely consumable — they become part of products that students will design, produce, and sell. Revenue from sales will be reinvested to purchase more supplies, creating a self-sustaining cycle that extends the value of the PIE Grant beyond this year.
