Exploring Science with Owl Pellets!

I teach science to 7th graders and I love to make science come alive by doing hands on activities and experiments. I believe owl pellets are a fun way to make our ecosystem unit come alive. Dissecting owl pellets will help them see food chains come alive as they can see what owls eat and think about the impact owls and other predators have on their ecosystems. Students will get to work together and build communication skills as well as learn how to work in a group. I believe adding hands on experiences fosters better learning and grasping of content because they can see it in action with their own eyes. This will be a capstone to our second to last unit that takes place in March and will include 153 7th graders at Parks Junior High.
