One subject that I would like to expand upon this year in physical education is applicable skills that students might not have consistent access to the means for practice. I would like to bring one of the most iconic activities of the great outdoors to my students: fishing. By bringing this activity to my students I can go over basic safety without the hazards of sharp metal hooks. They will have multiple opportunities to practice casting their line and become more confident in their knot tying. Learning the fundamentals of fishing can help students build a strong foundation for this unique activity. This means that when the family decides they would like to go on a fishing trip, everyone already has an idea of what they should do and you can spend more time focusing on fun with the family.
