Weaving History - Basket Weaving Wonders by Evelin Herenandez

When it comes to studying history, our goal is to provide culturally responsive teaching and learning with our students by providing multiple experiences to guide them in their understanding of the values and traditions of Native Californian tribes and their contributions to society. With this grant, we will be able to have students experience basket weaving much like the native tribes of Southern California, such as the Juaneño tribe. My goal for this project is to help create a sense of community by showing our students how our different cultures and histories have commonalities such as basket making. We hope to ignite their passion for the arts through creative designs in their basket weaving while having an amazing and memorable 4th-grade experience!
