Learning One Stitch At A time by Cathy Wilson

Through “Learning One Stitch At A Time,” my students will learn to crochet by starting with a simple project of making a “Wooble” as a desktop pet. Crocheting, which was previously seen for only the elderly, is now gaining popularity among the young due to its positive impact on one’s mental, physical, and social health. By teaching my students to make a Wooble, I will also introduce them to the company founders whose simple dream of teaching others to crochet, was backed by billionaires Mark Cuban and Lori Grenier from Shark Tank. (Thus showcasing the importance of following one's passion) Through this grant, I will use the money to buy 30 Wooble kits, which will provide all the materials and tutorials necessary to teach my students how to crochet. My dream is to continue crocheting in my classroom even after each Wooble is made, in order to allow my students the opportunity to be creative and build confidence, one stitch at a time.
